Rossano Sportiello was conservatory trained in Italy and began performing in jazz clubs in Milan at 16 before touring throughout Europe with the historic "Milano Jazz Gang." Sportiello emerged as a soloist at the Ascona Jazz Festival (Switzerland) with trombonist arranger Dan Barrett, winning the 2009 Acsona Jazz Award in recognition of his stride piano expertise. He came to the US in 2007 and has performed with jazz luminaries such as Slide Hampton, Clarke Terry, Barry Harris, Kenny Davern, Bucky Pizzarelli, Bob Wilber, Bob Cranshaw, Mickey Roker, Howard Alden, Joe Wilder, Eddie Locke, Joe La Barbera, Scott Hamilton, Jake Hanna, Houston Person, and Dick Hyman. He has over 25 solo or small group CDs to his credit.
Frank Tate was the leader of the house band at Blues Ally in Washington D.C. before moving to New York to join Marian McPartland in 1975. He has played with jazz notables Benny Goodman, Zoot Sims, Teddy Wilson, Joe Venuti, Pearl Baily, and the Ruby Braf trio including Howard Alden. Frank played on Cape Cod with Buddy Hackett and played at the Columns in Dennis with Dave McKenna. A founding member of the Alden-Barrett Quintet, he has been a frequent performer in Woods Hole first introducing local audiences to Rossano Sportiello. Tate, Allen, and Sportiello performed together at the Fishmonger this past Spring.
